Partials & Dentures
Partials use your remaining teeth to hold plastic teeth with metal framework in place. Clasps attach to your teeth for retention. Partials are not as good as bridgework, but cost less. The results are acceptable. Dentures stay in by suction. Many patients use implants to add retention to dentures
Implant-Supported Denture
Regular dentures that are not supported by implants, rest on the gums and tend to fit less firmly in the mouth.
Implant-supported dentures adhere firmly to the implants and provide more of the feel of natural teeth. The "snaps" on the under side of the denture snap right over the bar assembly in the mouth, which is firmly attached to dental implants.
The photos below show one way in which dental implants can be used to make your denture function similar to natural teeth.
