Over-The-Counter

Over-the-counter whitening strips (such as Crest or other name brands) can be effective, but the results do not seem to last very long. It only hits the front teeth, where the strips attach to, and it does not seem to bleach the inside of the tooth vs. a professional at home or in-office laser white bleaching treatment.

If you add the costs you spend on these strips over a period of time, and the length that the results last after completion, it is much more practical to do a professional teeth whitening session.

At Home Whitening

Teeth whitening can be performed in two different ways. Most patients select to have this procedure done in the privacy of their own homes. After an exam where all your questions are answered, a shade selection is done and impressions are taken for custom bleaching trays to be fabricated. A whitening solution is applied to the trays and the trays are then worn at home for an average of one to two hours per day for up to 21 days. Dr. Hanneman and Dr. Dustrude monitor this until results are obtained.

ZOOM 2 (In-Office) Chairside Laser Whitening

ZOOM has come out with the best of all worlds. It is usually completed in one visit with a 60 to 90 minute session. This utilizes topical whitening solution, along with a laser white light; which helps activate the product and remove the stains internally. This procedure is for the patient who wants it done quickly and safely with the best possible results. Take home trays are also given to patients who have this done in the office for touch-up kits.
